This entire week we’ll be talking to folks from each of our Concordias about what makes their school unique and why students should consider attending their Concordia. Concordia University Portland
Andy Wright, Director of Undergraduate Admission for Concordia University Portland, talks about the beautiful campus at CUPDX. The campus is next to the Alberta Arts District, providing students opportunities for the arts off campus, and skiing and visiting the ocean are popular activities for students. Academic service learning programs are incredibly important and built into student life. The nursing program is CUPDX’s largest program and one of the top programs in the Northwest, and the business and education programs, especially the unique “3 to PhD” education program, are quite popular. Concordia University Chicago
John Korntheuer, Associate Director of Admission for Concordia University Chicago, speaks about the wonderful opportunities for students at CUC’s campus in beautiful River Forest, IL. CUC is located about ten miles west of the Loop in Chicago, and students often use the easily accessible public transportation to access the unique cultural opportunities downtown. CUC was founded as a teacher’s college, and the College of Education is a very popular choice for students. Church work programs, including the only undergraduate Deaconess degree, are strong programs as well, and Careers For Christ is a unique visit weekend specifically for those students. As an NCAA Division III school, student-athletes have many opportunities to participate in athletics as a student, and intramurals are a popular choice for those who don’t want to play at the intercollegiate level. The arts are very popular, and the Wind Symphony and Kapelle choir travel all over the world.
