David Birner, Dr. Bernard Bull, and Dr. James Juergensen, Sr. talk about Lutherans in Higher Education.
Dr. Bernard Bull is an Assistant Vice President of Academics and Associate Professor of Education at Concordia University Wisconsin. Prior to serving at Concordia, he taught middle school social studies and theology at Lutheran Schools in Rockford, IL and Milwaukee, WI. He is a proud high school alumnus of Metro East Lutheran School in Edwardsville, IL. After that, he went on to earn a B.A. in history, theology and education; a M.A. in curriculum and instruction, a M.A. in humanities, and an Ed.D. in instructional technology.
Rev. Dr. David Birner is the Executive Director of International Education at Concordia University Wisconsin. Rev. Dr. David Birner Dr. Birner will be responsible for working closely with the academic deans and program directors to identify, connect, and coordinate CUW’s multiple relationships and academic programs, in order to further define and expand CUW’s global footprint. Dr. Birner was formerly responsible for leadership of the LCMS World Mission International Program in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eurasia. He graduated from Concordia Senior College in Ft. Wayne, IN with a Bachelor of Arts degree and he received a Master of Divinity degree from Christ Seminary in St. Louis and in 2010 he received a Doctor of Ministry degree.
Dr. James Juergensen, Sr. (“Dr. J” to his students) has 50 years in the fulltime Teaching/Leading Ministry, 28 at Concordia U. He has been a principal at Lutheran High School and The American School in Japan, and Superintendant of the Association of Lutheran Schools in Rockford, IL. Dr. Jergensen has received many awards, including teacher of the year, Advisor of the year, Wisconsin State Educator of the year, and he just recently received the Christian Service Award at the Concordia graduation
