“Passion According to St. John”
Attr. Johann Walter
Arr. Sean Daenzer
Text is John 18-19, ESV.
Ecce Quomodo Moitur Justus
setting by Jacobus Gallus (Handl)
Ecce quomodo moritur justus
et nemo percipit corde.
Viri justi tolluntur
et nemo considerat.
A facie iniquitatis
sublatus est justus
et erit in pace memoria ejus.
In pace factus est locus ejus
et in Sion habitatio ejus.
Translation:
Behold, how the righteous man dies,
and no one lays it to heart;
righteous men are taken away,
and no one considers
that from the face of iniquity
the righteous man is taken away
and his memory will enter into peace.
In peace is his place established
and in Zion is His habitation.
