Since the ruling of Roe v. Wade, the abortion debate has changed in both everyday conversation and public argument. Guest Cathie Humbarger has dedicated her professional life to involvement and activism in the pro-life arena. In this episode, she shares how the abortion conversation has changed throughout the years and discusses how today’s arguments and talking points must adapt to the changes in rhetoric on both sides of the debate.
Bio: Cathie became active in the pro-life fight over 30 years ago, when a friend shared an abortion experience with her. She was blessed to walk with her friend through the healing process. Cathie was also privileged to serve on the founding board of A Hope Center, the first pregnancy resource center in Fort Wayne, Ind. Her passion over the past 30 years is to save as many babies and mothers as possible, remembering that the Lord reached her through the broken heart of a young woman who chose abortion in her crisis pregnancy.
In her role as Vice President of Policy Enforcement for Indiana Right to Life, she organized a team of Indiana Right to Life affiliates near free-standing abortion facilities to enforce administrative code and laws to bring about the closure of three abortion facilities in Indiana. This statewide coalition has also gathered evidence, filed complaints, and provided information to authorities that resulted in disciplinary action against three abortionists and the indefinite suspension of the medical license of an abortionist responsible for over 50,000 abortions.
Cathie also served for 17 years as the Executive Director of Right to Life of Northeast Indiana, currently serving as Director of Public Policy to prevent abortion businesses from opening and advocating for unborn boys and girls and their mothers in the Indiana Statehouse.
She also has the privilege of serving as Director of Public Policy for Safe Haven Baby Boxes.
She founded and continues to co-host “I Choose Life News & Views,” a weekly 30-minute radio program focusing on life issues. The program has aired on several stations for over 15 years.
In January of 2020, Cathie was named CEO of Reprotection, Inc. charged with the mission of making our nation abortion-free by closing abortion businesses one at a time. Following the strategy she used to close three abortion facilities operated by the notorious abortionist, Ulrich Klopfer.
Cathie is a native of Columbus, Ind., and currently resides in Fort Wayne, Ind., with her husband Rick. She is the mother of three children, has fourteen grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.

We believe that God is the author and sustainer of all life. We also know it can be hard to speak about the intrinsic value of that life when it feels like the world is trying to drown us out.
We’re right here beside you. In this podcast of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod’s Life Ministry, we’re coming alongside one another as a community of Christ’s redeemed people, ones who are speaking up for and living out the sanctity of human life. Together we’ll explore life issues in a way that honors our heavenly Father’s value of human life, serves our neighbor, and connects us to others who are doing the same. Join us, so that together we can be friends for life.
