Today Pastor Tanner Wade looks at the readings for Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost, Series A in the Three Year Lectionary. In the upcoming lessons for the following week, we are given several important reminders in the assigned readings. Our Gospel lesson reminds us to be humble and not envious in the faith, rejoicing rather than being bitter when God’s promises are bestowed on people that previously did not know the Good News of Christ Jesus. The Psalm of the Day brings a confident reminder in the security we have in knowing the LORD as our light and our salvation. The Epistle Reading focuses on the joy we can have no matter the situation we face and the prophet Isaiah gives us a reminder of the comforting compassion the LORD freely offers to all people.
