Guest Emily Woock, Director of Parish Music at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elmhurst, Illinois, shares about why music literacy is an important skill for children to have. Emily also talks about resources for parents to help teach their children about music literacy, including children in worship, and the importance of teaching children about worship and our rich Lutheran liturgy. Emily holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Church Music and Education from Concordia University Chicago, where she also earned a certificate in Piano Pedagogy. She holds a Master of Sacred Music Degree from the University of Notre Dame and is currently pursuing a Master of Music Education Degree from Anderson University and a Music Therapy Equivalency from Saint Mary of the Woods College. She completed her Kodály Certification from the Hartt School in July 2015 where she studied with Dr. John Feierabend, the creator of the First Steps curriculum.
